it was 10am when i woke in shock because i was late for work and my alarm clock battery had died overnight. rain poured outside and i had no umbrella having lent it to a friend. as i ran to work, a passing car hit a pothole and splashed dirty water all over my wool suit. then i entered an office meeting late, soaked, smelly, and unprepared. after the meeting, i sat at my desk thinking about sinking my teeth into a butterfinger bar i had in my desk drawer. i opened the drawer, but it was gone! then a child peeped his head into my office, candy bar in hand, smiling with chocolate stained teeth.
